Herb Lubalin is one of the most influent graphic designer of the 20th century. Most of his work is hard to find, but fortunaly Design & Typo has published a digitalized collection of his beautiful work for easy weekend browsing. Don’t miss this one.

Brilliant- thank you- Avant Garde magazine deeply influenced me and most of my contemporaries. Herb’s work still shines- despite most of the graphics from the 60’s 70,80, 90’s look dated already.
I remember one photo especially, one which he called in by phone to a photographer when he got the idea- I think he was up against a print date - A pair of worn African-American hands in vivid black and white holding a scrunched up telegram on which you could read “The Secretary of… Department of Def..deeply regrets…..your son …killed in action in Vietnam…… bravely….”I have yet to see anything more powerful to equal this.
If anyone finds it, could you scan it and post it on the site? It’ll be a great addition.
